Just a reminder that they signed Kampf at 2.4 and reaves at 1.35 and now theyare over the cap limit and their goaler isn't signed. haha.

trade or buyout Murray. Muzzin is LTIR. Run a 20-21 man roster (which ALOT of teams did last year to start) and they are cap compliant. The Leafs aren't in a tough cap situation.

I don't love the Reaves signing based on it being 3 years. Kampf 4 x 2.4m is super reasonable. I assumed he would get anywhere between 4 years at 2m-2.5m.

looks like there is a 2nd buyout period later this summer. And it can be used if you have a player in Arbitration. Which we do in Samsonov. Not 100% sure how it works but it sounds like the Leafs will be able to use it. I would prefer trading Murray though for some futures. I don't love the -2m cap hit next year.

They get a second one because of Samsonov's arbitration

Meaning trading Murray while giving away some future assets, as it picks. Not trading Murray for future considerations. I am not delusional. I definitely didn't word it properly in my last post.

It will cost AT LEAST a 3rd + 7th to get rid of Murray (which is what we got for him) but it will probably cost more.

So SJS take on 20 mil in cap space and retain 3.5 mil for 4 years, give up a 2nd for a late 1st and a forward that doesn't fit into a rebuild. That is one of the most wild trades I've seen.

That 2nd is a conditional 1st if NJ make the conference finals. all the more reason it wont be in a EK deal
