Run It Back

Created by: BUFF36
Team: 2023-24 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 15, 2023
Published: Jul. 15, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
D Pairings are a little different. But I suspect you will see Dahlin and Power as Partners a few times a period to help Clifton and Johnson with there Ice Time. Have to see if Clifton can handle the extra 3 or 4 minutes more a game he would be playing with Dahlin or Power.

Well, well, well it appears someone is actually listening to Granato and Adams.
Johnson and Clifton were brought in to mentor and hit respectively.
Mentor Power and protect Dahlin.
Samuelsson and Jokiharju will play more as the third pairing than Bryson and Lyubushkin did last year, allowing Power and Dahlin to be fresher later in the games.

Lack of defensemen depth severly impacted the Sabres last 2 months.
Stillman, Lyubushkin and Bryson will be spares allowing other injured defensemen time to mend in the press box and not on the ice.

Quinn, Peterka and Power will have breakout years just as Cozens and Mittelstadt did this year.
Levi has excelled at every level he played, he will do the same in the NHL.

Finally, the Sabres never had depth as they do now.
Imagine a player with the talent of Krebs is our third line center.
Thompson was not healthy enough to center the top line, our third line winger centers the top line the last 11 games with a +10 and 17 points.

Last year I predicted 90 points, this year my prediction is 100.

Great post!

It’s going to be Levi and UPL. Comrie will be the odd man out. I really think Kulich plays in Rochester except for the amount of games they can call him up without burning a year of his deal. His ELC can slide one more time. Having him for three full years on the big club at his ELC will be huge no matter how much the cap goes up. And we still have Rousek, Biro, and Murray as call ups. Even Weissbach played well enough to get a shot. Rochester is loaded again and should compete for the Calder Cup. I believe Levi’s elite level play is not an accident and we’re better defensively. Clifton won’t have to join the rush and can focus on that side of the ice. I think as long as we start well with Quinn on the IR, we’ll be a 110 point team and win the division.

I could see that with Kulich, kinda why I didn't trade Olofsson. Rochester will have some choices to make to, they have a lot of forwards signed.
To me it depends on how Clifton handles more ice time and can Johnson stay healthy and of course the goaltending.
A lot went right for the Sabres last year, having added depth will help. Still not impressed with what Adams did so far this off-season. I will say 95pts. Because of some growth from the youngins.

i'm just all in on levi. he was coming in after not having played, acclimated to NHL shooters, and nearly got us a playoff spot. he just has an elite skill set, elite anticipation, and already showed elite shootout ability. a full offseason where he prepares to be the #1 and he's going to be in the vezina mix. UPL will also get the chance to prepare to be the #2 where he plays 30 games, which he did last year when he was 17-11-4. when you have a team that scores like we do and takes chances, the save percentage and GAA have to be viewed differently. like when freddy andersen was in toronto. he played great but didn't have great numbers for that reason. he went to a more defensive team like carolina and his numbers skyrocketed. for us, there are a lot of games like the detroit one from last season. a really good goalie performance may be putting the clamps on in the shootout on 4-4, 5-5, or 6-6 games sometimes. levi can do that for 50-55 games and UPL can do it for 25-30. i think levi goes 34-12-4 and UPL is similar to last season. that's near 110 points.

Well think we are gonna see what Levi can handle. Excited to see what he can do but still a lot to ask a rookie goalie to play 50gms. UPL didn't get much help at times, hopefully Granato installs a better 200ft D system for the whole team.
