So flyers trade:

Murray and Robertson to dump Murray (probably not enough cause Robertson is always hurt)
3rd for TK 50% retention
Two 1sts for TK (Briere wants more and the picks will be late)
A 5th and Brodie for Laughton and Seeler (this is laughable)

So how exactly did you expect this to work? This is easily declined by Briere

Another extremely inadequate offer for the Flyers to whack into the cheap seats. You still need to factor in the cost of dumping Murray (buyout or not) AND the retention.

Honestly, you could remove Murray and the retention, and you're still light.

Yea, you don't have to sign Nylander before trading him, because we can do that ourselves

What exactly are you expecting then? Look at the recent returns for guys like Dubois and Debrincat. Not likely TK alone gets you 2 first rounders when comparing recent transactions.

Uh every single reporter and insider said TK will get more simply because the other two guys quite literally forced their way out of the their teams and their teams had no leverage. Sorry but ur just wrong. U can read anything and everyone will tell you the same thing. A cheap contract for another 2 years is totally different compared to PLD and ADB needing big contracts and forcing their way out lol, if you don’t see the difference then that’s on you. Briere literally doesn’t have to trade him, if you want him u have to meet his asking price which is more than two 1sts from what he has said. This also doesn’t change the fact you literally didn’t pay for Laughton and probably didn’t even pay enough to dump Murray. We aren’t simultaneously wildly helping your cap situation out on multiple ends while giving you 3 of our players for pennies on the dollar. Everyone knows the Leafs cap situation and if you want to get out of it you have to pay up

I chose those two guys more because they are so recent. Even Provorov didn't get two firsts when your own team traded him and you had to eat Cal Petersen who is like a slightly more reasonable version of Matt Murray. I'd probably throw in the Calgary 2025 2nd max. Another good comparable is Jakob Chychrun, the Sens gave up a mid first, and two seconds for a guy on an even better contract. I'm not even expecting multiple firsts in a William Nylander trade, just different parts based on the current market. Although Nylander has one less year, he is more talented than Konecny and has a better AAV when comparing their numbers year over year.

Loooool I don't disagree with you at all but we will see how this plays out. I'd love to keep him in Toronto but the money is the issue.

I wouldn't pay him more than 9M, let alone 10M.

Well if someone gonna pay nylander 10m it’s gonna be Calgary didnt they give huberdeau (15g 40A 75gp) 10 million lmao

That was literally my thinking too. I even think Nylander could look at that contract and demand $10,500,000 just cause Huberdeau received it. The fit just makes sense too now that we have Brad Treliving as GM.

Dude u just compared two defenseman to TK lol. You also compared ANOTHER two guys that wanted out lol. JK publicly wanted out of Arizona and every Flyers fan knew Provy wanted out. Provy has also absolutely sucked for the last 2 seasons whereas TK just had his best season of his career on a horrible team which Provy massively helped be horrible lol. Then you compare Nylander, a guy who only has 1 year left on his contract who wants $10M+ which is almost double what TK makes and everyone on earth knows Toronto can’t pay him that so he is also basically out the door. You haven’t named a single player like Tk yet that is an actual comparable lol

No they gave Huberdeau (30g 85a 80gp) 10.5M. Same contract they offered Gaudreau who had the exact same production so it was pretty hard to offer him less. Not to mention Calgary has a different GM now

The equivalent of your statement is me saying "Didn't Toronto pay Nylander (7g 20a 54gp) 7M?"

If you can actually name and cite an NHL insider who has gone on record saying that Konecny is worth two firsts then I will agree with you, but you mentioned that all insiders say this earlier in the thread and I just haven't seen anyone saying that myself. I also don't see why we can't compare Chychrun to Konecny, their contracts expire at the same time and both teams could've waited as long as they would like to move them.

Technically Florida gave Huberdeau 5.3m for 30G 85A and Calgary paid 10.5M for 15 goals 40A

No that's not technical at all. Calgary paid Huberdeau for what he's capable of, what he did this year was no where near what he is capable of

Technically you’re wrong. Huberdeau still made $5.9 last year and his $10.5 kicks in this upcoming season
