Murray will cost at least a 3rd to move at this point, most teams have made their moves so the amount of teams that can take murray's cap hit is small.
The only teams that have cap space for a brodie probably dont want a UFA. Brodie has value, but if a team like PHI cant trade a RD who puts up 42 pts in 70 games on a team that cant score, Deangelo at 2.5mil for peanuts/nothing, it really shows that a slightly better player at 5mil has little value to the BUYERS. And CGY has enough UFAs and will not reacquire Brodie.
Timmins, problems or not, doesn;t have oodles of value either, as hes shown on 3 nhl clubs that he doesn;t play defense.
Samsonov at 3mil is maybe a bit hopeful. Say what you want, but how many starting goalies make less than 3.5mil. And samsonov, his agent and the arbitrator can see that TOR has no other alternative but to pay their starter like a starter, let alone at just 3mil.
But really the glaring issue to me, besides next years UFAs, (40mil of the 83mil cap is expiring UFAs and a couple RFAs), is the fact that out of 24 players above, only 4 are 25 yrs old or less. (with just 2 picks in the first 2 rounds over the next 3 years, WITHOUT subtracting what it may take to dump murray or any TDL moves). The team is collectively old, with few impact prospects in system.
