I don’t disagree that pesce likely stays, something I’ve been saying recently. But we’ve got to stop using pesce gf career as rationale. I saw it randomly posted on here once and it’s picking up steam. His gf is a project manager at a random company in NC. It’s not a career lol

I don't follow the logic - the Sabres are claiming the additions of Clifton and Johnson, through their experience and the depth they'll add, will automatically help their goaltending. If they were to also add Pesce to further strengthen their defense, why would it then make sense to rent Hellebuyck (or worse, extend him)?

It's all moot - neither Pesce nor Hellebuyck seem likely to be moved in the offseason. If their teams can't find acceptable trades or extend either player on their own, both seem destined to play the season out and be trade deadline candidates.
