I forgot to add a description so here’s it
I know it’s unrealistic but what would a trade somewhat like this look like maybe for matthews instead , am I that far and the leafs clear cap space and get assets with unreal cap hits (markstrom exception)

No way the Flames consider this. If Lindholm doesn't stay they sure won't trade him for Marner if Lindholm leaves they'll be looking for a replacement center or going into a rebuild. And all that retention on top of it? LOL

Whether Lindholm stays or leaves probably won't be decided until well into the 2023-24 season. Besides Marner has a NMC he won't waive.

Mariner player centre in junior and if we get a superstar for lindholm with some term we aren’t being picky on position they play and one year retention isn’t a big deal. If lindholm doesn’t extend soon we shouldn’t give him the power to walk, trade him.

Marner is just another soft complimentary perimeter player. We need a 1st line center a whole lot more than another perimeter player that has to be carried. Good teams build around gritty skilled players not soft perimeter passer type players.

For sure and we already have Huberdeau

I do believe the Leafs should be looking on from Marner... But adding Lilly is a no go. Make it a Niemela or 2024 1st and I could see the deal working out and get rid of Markstrom

Heh. And where is Calgary getting all this extra cap space to subsidize the Leafs?

The flames have tons of cap space in this scenario. This must be a next off-season move though when the cap apparently explodes

And three of the players in the trade are UFAs, so that can't be it.

Trades have to work for both sides. Trading a 1st line center for another very highly paid pass first winger when they already have Huberdeau doesn't make any sense at all for Calgary.
