Pretty sure it has been established that Petry will block San Jose. Chicago also likely wants more for that.

That probably isn't even enough to dump Granlund without the 10% retention on EK.

I think a more realistic alternative would be switching Petry and Granlund in these deals. Not sure if that would happen, but probably more feasible. Petry is at least useful if overpaid. Granlund is a complete liability IMO.

Chicago isn't taking Granlund AND retaining for 4 years for a 2nd.

No, he's right. We have seen that the price for retaining and/or accepting bad contracts is a LOT. 1st round pick(s) would be going Chicago's way in this deal.

Not really debatable. I try not to speak in absolutes, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that a 2nd will not get all of that done. You MIGHT be able to dump Granlund for a 2nd round pick (even that is a stretch), but believing PIT could get anything more than that is just delusional. CHI wouldn't even do that for a 1st round pick.

Even a 1st wouldn't be enough with the EK retention.

I am just talking sending out Granlund here. A second rounder has a good chance of doing that. Maybe add one more mid round pick (probably a fourth) or C prospect.
