This gives each team what they need. Pens need forward depth and better defense play overall. Carolina can use the scoring depth on their back end and San Jose gets goalie prospect, draft picks, and cap floor.

Why would Carolina do this? They lose a top 6 forward, which is their biggest need anyway, and they take on all of EK's contract? And they are also taking on Granlund whose an overpaid 3rd liner, Poulin's a fine prospect, but he's what a B prospect at best? A 2nd ain't changing anything.

Won't happen at all. Petry blocks. Dubas and Waddell reject. I'm sure Grier would love this deal though.

Canes aren’t interested in 11.5 EK, would imagine he needs to get down to 7.5 for it to realistically work and make sense.

Especially when you’re adding in Granlund cap dump. Canes don’t consider this deal at all.
