I really think this is it

Description
Anticipating the following comments and adding preemptive responses:

Comment: Foote is not a top 4 dman.
Response: I agree, but I think Toews makes life a lot easier on him and puts him in a position to succeed. Bednar mixes things up a ton, so Foote will still end up as the 6D if you look at ATOI.

Comment: Colton was brought to be as 3C.
Response: Yeah probably, but I personally like him better on the wing. Suter is better defensively and can provide what is needed at that position, which allows Colton to move to 3LW and possibly into the top 6 if there is an injury or Drouin falters.

Comment: Wood at RW is less than ideal.
Response: Agree, but what can you do. The team has who they have, and it's possible someone will need to move to a position they haven't traditionally played. They could make a trade for a 3RW instead, but I think Suter is the best option on the UFA market.

Comment: Great job, this team kicks butt and the Avs should hire you and give you a massive salary.
Response: Thank you. Lol.

great job lol.

This is the team i want, regardless of who plays what in the bottom six. I honestly don't know if it matters, other than acquiring another center who can PK would be nice and Suter is the best of the bunch.

I tend think you're wrong about Colton but like who cares really - Bednar switches lines up so much that he'll see time at wing and center. Suter and Meyers would take chances at the 4C, Suter & Colton at the 3C, Colton & Meyers as a 3rd line winger. Colton could play 3RW to solve your Wood on the 3RW problem. Cogs or LoC will jump up there occasionally due to injury or to run an all-forecheck line.

Kovalenko probably/hopefully takes that 3RW in april anyway, he'll be 3LW in the playoffs. Which is why I like Meyers there now, and Suter as 4C for playoffs.

This is the roster I want as well. Suter would be a great fit on that 3rd line until Kovalenko arrives (I think Kovalenko is going to fit perfect as a playmaker with Colton and Wood). Suter can handle 4C in the playoffs with Meyers floating around the bottom 6 based on injury need.

Don't really care for Foote, but at under 1M, I don't really care. I would prefer JJ/Hunt but they have several options that aren't MacDermid to fill the 6/7/8 D spots.

Foote is very much a flyer. If he works out them great. And if not there are other options and he goes on waivers. It's a no risk move, but one that makes sense taking a shot on imo.

I could see Foote getting a PTO. I'm just not sure there is an org fit if he can't hold a roster spot at the NHL level. There is already a numbers game at D that would make it difficult to add another one. I think we are up to 15 D between the NHL/AHL rosters which is why Hanzel is probably going to get an overage year in the WHL this upcoming season.

I would imagine Foote gets claimed if they waive him, so I don't think that's a big factor. But also one of Hunt or Malinski would probably be brought up, so it would be roster neutral even if he cleared.

The Hanzel thing is separate and kinda embarrassing imo. They shouldn't have drafted him if they didn't have a spot for him. But maybe the player and team are both okay with taking that one more year in the W. Seems really weird, but I guess it's possible.

I’ll refrain from the Foote, Wood RW and Colton LW comments per your request.

Was thinking about that left side though. If Suter comes in to 3C and Colton moves to LW, I think I like the look of:

Lehky - MacK - Nuke
Colton - RyJo - Rantanen
Drouin - Suter - Wood

I think the KHL season ends early Feb and playoffs mid March. Kovalenko could potentially slot into the lineup much earlier than April (he already has his visa sorted too)
