Description
Putting together dillusional leaf fan moves based on comments like "Brodie returns a first round pick" and "you can get much more than that for Nylander"

It could still work but I don't put faith in just stealing every trade..

ANA shouldn't trade a 1st for Brodie. They aren't close to competing and need all the futures they can get. And if Toronto trades Brodie, their RD position needs addressing. Can't compete with such weak RD like that.

I'm thinking Brodie can help a young d or just be a bit of help on a strong d core

I like Brodie for Lauzon from Nashville or for Romanov from islanders 1 for 1

Nylander I don't know I think a good forward and a first and second or a good forward, a role player and a second.

But some folks think none of what I mentioned is enough lol so I tried to make a team for them.

I know that your point is that Brodie really ISN'T worth a first, so you picked the team that he would be least worth a first to -- one season of Brodie is meaningless to a team that isn't going to get near a playoff spot in that one season. But your minor point -- that some people will never be satisfied -- is still valid.

That's fair but I would also think a team that feels good about their team with near no draft picks would have a harder time trading for Brodie...teams with piles of picks should move a couple in my opinion using some for players and others for prospects...but I hear ya.

Most we will give you for brodie is a 2024 4th if that lets you know how insane this trade is

Lol I cannot proceed...I don't believe he is worth a first but maybe a team with enough picks for the whole league, Chicago, Vancouver I think will throw a bone over to the Leafs for a year of Brodie but chances are Nylander and Brodie will be on the roster opening night but beyond that I wouldn't make any predictions.

It's not that Brodie is worth nothing, the problem is that any teams that could use him would have to send salary back. The teams that can afford him how ever have no need for him and aren't going to pay a high price.

Yeah absolutely and he is owed $7.5M this year in actual money....I would like to see a defenseman that is a bit cheaper with term that a team isn't that interested in keeping come back in a trade but that is very slim pickings.

Nashville and New York Islanders have their top pairs on big contracts and locked in so maybe Brodie for one season is intriguing if they see him as better than guys like Lauzon or Romanov on their bottom pairs maybe they need a prospect thrown in but I like those trades that is the only trade I see where the Leafs benefit sending him away for a third and a fourth combined I think is not too bad also or like tinordi for the savings in money and the Blackhawks again have to see Brodie as an upgrade to tinordi

But anyways I think you are making sense with your assessment.
