Hawks decline. Thomson doesn't hold that kind of value. Sens add a 3rd on their side to this for the Hawks to even consider it.

I wouldn’t take Joseph’s $2.95m x 3 for anything less then a 2nd, and all Ottawa should expect is FC.

Thomson's value is probably equal to a 3rd. His upside is NHL 3rd pair guy who plays point on 2nd PP unit. A 2nd and a 3rd to dump Joseph seems steep to me.

Fair enough however, with guys like Korchinski and Kaiser coming through the system I don’t think Thomson gives the Hawks anything they don’t already have in-house so I would prefer a higher pick and let Ottawa keep Thomson or deal him elsewhere.

Thomson is a right shot guy. Rather give him a shot on 3rd pair this season than Zaitsev or playing any of our own young guys on their off side. But yeah, a 2nd and another later pick to take Joseph could work too.

I agree, I would much rather have Thomson then Zaitsev but sine the Hawks didn’t buyout Zaitsev I think they roll with what they have unless they acquire another d-man for free… like they did with Tinordi last season.
