Yeah its a risky trade for both parties. For Calgary there is no guarantee of star status from Lysell, DeBrusk or Poitras (debrusk consistency is in question and Lysell and Poitras are still young so its hard to tell). But all of those players have high upside. So from Boston's Perspective they might consider waiting till the upcoming off-season to see how those players grow this year and to wait till the 24-25 cap increase. There are a lot of players looking to test the 24-25 offseason already and I wouldn't be surprised if Boston with about 30mil goes shopping.

A lot of these trade rumors are fun and all but i expect most of them (especially those between wildcard teams) to be trade deadline trades or done next offseason.

Yeah I don't want DeBrusk in a return for Lindholm. Doesn't help the team tank

I'm not a Boston fan, idc if they want to win or not. Flames would have zero interest in DeBrusk as a centerpiece in a Lindholm trade

Flames won’t do a tank like Chicago. If they tank it is by accident; such as trading Lindholm for inconsistent players (Debrusk) and 2nd tier prospects. So this trade seems plausible and you still get what you want.

I would pass on Lysell and go with the D man Mason Lohrei

So you’d rather lose Lindholm for nothing.

Who said anything about scorching earth? Calgary is too good to get a top 5 pick any time soon (albeit a lottery win but I'm not betting on that) but can be bad enough to get a couple top 10 picks in the next 2-3 drafts before bouncing back into action as the young guys start to enter their primes. LA did, so did Dallas and New York (Rangers).

Here's the problem you aren't seeing. If the Flames trade Lindholm What's the answer at 1C? This isn't like Vancouver where they could move Horvat and still have an elite 1st line center and a very good 2nd line center. The only way Calgary can get a replacement for Lindholm is through developing prospects and higher picks. DeBrusk does not help that direction at all, he is literally just another log on the fire of perpetual mediocrity and indecision

Not including both Lysell & Poitras. I'd also rather trade Lysell than Poitras.

Throwing logs on the fire of perpetual mediocrity and indecision seems to be Calgarys MO
