whole league FA signing predictions
From a bruins fan perspective I know that in game beef and out of game beef when they join your team are two very different things but the history of Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and some of the current players on Boston might steer him away from a contract (history of a high hit from McAvoy, slew foot from Marchand, among other things) and Boston isn't looking to overspend on him. I do think he is a fit on the team at a similar cap hit to what he is doing now so I am not opposed.
otherwise interesting list hard to call anything wrong until we actually get to July first

completely agree, with 1 mil in cap space he fits on this roster with no trades. plenty of players on the roster are waivers ineligible. easy enough to move people up and down to providence.

Easy offseason
Honestly I want to try and lend some commentary to the Chychrun 1 for 1 for Ullmark "Hocky trade" conversation. I am not sure that Boston is sold on the trade. There is the same coinflip to be had on an extension that the sens will have with Ullmark. Needs for Boston are first and foremost top 6 forwards and Picks. As interesting as this is for Boston's D core, Mason Lohrei has looked to be developing into a puzzlepiece for the top Pair and Any team looking to send picks to Boston will likely outbid this trade offer. If there is guaranteed extensions in place we can further this conversation but we are making some interesting assumptions on a Defensman that has struggled with a struggling Sens roster this season that has caused his value to drop a bit.
Not to knock Chychrun (he is an incredible player) but the $$$ of a contract is what makes or breaks this trade.

Unlikely, those are some team friendly contracts for Lindholm and Hannifin. I also have to imagine there is a desire for a 22 man roster, need more cap space for a 13th forward with the team.

Opening Night
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Richard88</b></div><div>Zboril getting waived then or what?</div></div>
I feel like zboril has consistently performed worse than quite a few of our other defenseman prospects like Ian Mitchell, Mason Lohrei and even comparable to reilly walsh and alec regula imo. I just wish we could send him out to get some returns via trade. my bigger issue is with the lack of inlusion of Danton Heinen. I feel like he has performed well in camp and is competing with lauko for that 4th line wing. I think after that the conversation between 13th forward is Trevor Kuntar, Jayson Megna, Jesper Boqvist, and either lauko or heinen (whoever doesn't start on opening night).

Its just the matter of pushing a scratch to the AHL no? Marc M goes down to the AHL for free and we are under the cap. Also im not sure bonuses count towards that intial cap hit for season start but i could be wrong.

I love Lohrei and think he can absolutely contribute to this team over Shatt and Forbs but not sure the 3rd line is for him.
Mitchell should definitely earn the spot of 7th D over Zboril</div></div>
Love this team take honestly. I think there is pretty good reason to run these lines. I honestly don't think we will see this on opening night though but I expect a mixup at some point during the season when we get a good stretch to see how the vets are doing. I think lohrei could do with a bit more bulk up time in providence for his stature but beecher looks like a stud 4c and poitras at 19 would be a sure slot in if it weren't for the unfortunate ohl 9 game situation.

I think if that was a rental trade there could be some merit in that offer. But marchand is a franchise winger for boston and he has 2 years on his contract. I don't think vegas is on his 15 team ntc but I'm not sure how that works with teams added to the league after the contract ... (I don't think boston moves marchand anyways at this point in his career anyways, his contract is too good and he means yo much to the lockerroom)

Jets likely keep him to the trade deadline (and pray to any gods they can he doesn't get hurt), while trying to drum up extra value for a team looking at a cup run. That being said, if Dubois landed Gabe, Iaffalo and a 2nd, you can expect a trade similar but likely not as much given age and the fact he is UFA vs RFA.
It isn't clear what will happen with Mark, but given his play the second half of the season and the fact he was at odds with Bowness all year (also pretty sure he was benched in a few games), likely didn't leave a good taste in his mouth and will likely want to go to a team that can contend before his career is done.</div></div>
Not to mention we are clearly in a buyers market right now... cap is tight on alot of teams. So Winnipeg is going to lose the opportunity to trade scheifele and hellebuck unless they are careful.
also completely different note Ullmark has a NTC with 16 teams this season.... i guarantee you winnapeg is on that list.

Thanks for understanding the purpose of the post.... I am well aware that they likely dont make it to free agency. But there are alot of players looking to test the upcoming free agent market. They are likely not resigning with Calgary and even if they are pieced off at the trade deadline this season to other teams their is no guarantee that those teams have the means in to lock either of them up before the 24/25 offseason.

I was trying to be kind, forbort is a great defenseman with obvious strengths and clear weaknesses. Bruins likely dont have the capital or desire to resign him as a bottom pairing and there for should look to trade before his contract is up. This puts boston in a weak position to get much higher than a mid to late draft pick or a middle of the road prospect. The trade above gives boston 4x that.

Bruins probably don't hesitate on this trade. Boston is cap compliant now though so this is probably closer to what a trade looks like than it did a month ago. Still looks like a bit of an overpay.

I wouldn't be too sure... I tend to agree with you that zboril is the man out but there is merit in the discussion that if this is truly a bridge year and zboril is on the last year of his contract that we need to at least see if he was worth that 1st round pick by giving him his fair share of games. Not saying he is going to prove himself but I am willing to give him a shot, and yank him if he looks like trash.

Defense First
I honestly really like this take, I feel like there might be better options in terms of pairings depending on how lorhrei assimilates into the NHL.
Based on what I'm seeing and assuming Lohrei is going to be a bigger Matt Grzelcyk it might be worth to look for a bigger scoring threat as a 3rd pairing, even if it's a weaker all around defensman. I think one of the d prospects boston picked up from chicago was advertised as such and might fit in a pairing here.
This could free up more space for a higher quality center option if market provides.

Boston-Calgary
Yeah its a risky trade for both parties. For Calgary there is no guarantee of star status from Lysell, DeBrusk or Poitras (debrusk consistency is in question and Lysell and Poitras are still young so its hard to tell). But all of those players have high upside. So from Boston's Perspective they might consider waiting till the upcoming off-season to see how those players grow this year and to wait till the 24-25 cap increase. There are a lot of players looking to test the 24-25 offseason already and I wouldn't be surprised if Boston with about 30mil goes shopping.
A lot of these trade rumors are fun and all but i expect most of them (especially those between wildcard teams) to be trade deadline trades or done next offseason.

Not sure if the rumors are accurate but it seems like picks aren't in the cards for Calgary, they are looking to stay competitive. So the 2 solid prospects (Lohrei should be Nhl ready this season) and a first round don't make sense.

I think this is pretty close to fair, the sooner something like this happens the better it would be for Calgary as well. Mainly because DeBrusk and Poitras are a bit unknowns right now. DeBrusk has to prove that he can be a consistent 20-30 goal scorer without Patrice Bergeron and Poitras surprised this past season and has made the Canadian world juniors team, a good showing there and a consistent DeBrusk would make Boston shy away from this deal. Or at least make them question the 1st rounder for 2025.
I also question Jake Debrusk being willing to resign in Calgary, his contract is up this year and i think he either wants to stay in Boston or test the market. He is also from Edmonton, probably not a boon for Calgary in contract negotiations.
