Neither side would like this.

Too strong of a package from Min and who would be our 2c in Van?

Minnesota wouldn't even heads up trade Boldy who just got a 7 year contract for Pettersson that has a year left on his contract. Minnesota needs a center, but we aren't giving up key pieces for future success. 15 million in buyout cap space problems is the real reason Minnesota doesn't have a true #1 center.

In what world would a GM sign a 7 year deal with someone and instantly trade him to have to sign another the next year? This has nothing to do with Pettersson not being good, just the trade makes no sense to Minnesota is all. Not mentioning the whole Faber added and another good looking center prospect?

Pettersson is great, but not worth giving up two cornerstone players to get. Like Joker said, the real struggles lie with the cap penalties. No variation of giant trades like these will change that reality for the Wild. Guerin will wait to make big moves until a couple summers from now when the penalties are minimal.

Man, Pettersson would be a great get for Minnesota, but most of us fans would be absolutely shook to lose Boldy AND Faber. I know you gotta give to get, but Boldy's contract looks like it's going to be a HUGE steal and Faber is "One of Us" who also looks like he is going to be very good for a long time, so I just can't get fully on board here.

This part is all true but Petey's contract being up is not relevant.
