Description

Fantasy-land where everything goes the oilers way.

Chia doesn’t trade for rienhnart and picks Chabot at 16 and Aho at 33, then takes kaprizov instead of bear in the 5th. (Ouch)

Klefbom never injures his shoulder, which leads to Larson deciding to stay.

Nurse signs long term instead of multiple bridge deals.

Oilers draft Tkachuk instead of puljujarvi and Bratt instead of Aapeli Rasanan.

Oilers draft Carter hart instead of benson and Adam
Fox instead of niemelainen (big oof).

Oilers draft zegras instead of broberg

Philp doesn’t retire and breaks out as a big defensively sound 4c.

Cogs and gagner stick around.

Janmark stays cause I got bored with this exercise and, whatever, he’s fine.

COVID doesn’t happen and magically the cap has risen to

I get it's fantasy land but, Fox only wanted to play for the NYR and was willing to wait and sign as a FA, the only teams that should've drafted him are the Rangers or maybe the Islanders in hindsight.
Also Larsson might have told the Oilers he wasn't interested in resigning but, he was taken in expansion, not exactly walking away.
Finally, Hart might be a part of that whole team Canada WJR fiasco, he was rumored in trades and that all stopped when people thought he might be involved, we'll see but, at this point you kind of assume some kind of involvement

I get this is fantasy but above you are playing out a scenario where the Oilers GM is magically selecting all the right players at all the right draft positions. Argument could be made for all 30+ other teams (that there GM picked the perfect player with each pick)

Fox wasn’t playing for any team unless it was for the Rangers, hence being traded by Calgary and Carolina

Like a couple people pointed out, Fox would have been a 1st rounder had he not said he only wanted to play in NY. Calgary tried to convince him after drafting him and weren’t able to, Carolina traded for him and tried too but again, couldn’t convince him. His heart was set on NY and NY only. Only team that may have had a chance would have been the islanders.

Fair points on fox and hart. Larsson wasn’t claimed though, he decided to sign with Seattle as a ufa which counted as the expansion spot of I remember correctly. If he was still under contract or willing to resign with oil I think he would’ve been protected. The media in Edmonton constantly ripping on him for being part of the hall trade was the reason he was open to signing in Seattle imo.
