nope... The Hurricanes would probably demand that Pesce be part of a package for Nylander if he's going to Toronto

Canes decline. Why are Carolina paying for the retention on Pesce? No. That's not enough anyway. Jarnkrok is a cap dump. 1st + lilly is a good start, but it's still light.

Jarnkrok is a cap casualty not a cap dump. He has value.

I think the Pesce deal is good value (maybe without the retention and 2nd rounder.) but I would also make the 1st conditional on an extension if anything else would be added

To Toronto, maybe. But Jarnkrok isn't even a certainty in the Canes lineup. If we ignore the obviously better Necas, Svechnikov and the likes on the wings, he's not getting in over Noesen. He's not breaking up the Marty Staal Fast line... and he makes 2.9 million.

I think you need to drop anything going back with Pesce for Carolina to even consider this. 1st + lilly is going to be the starting point, you want more on top of Pesce, you need to add some more stuff of value. You cannot make 1sts conditional on extending anymore, so it would need to be a certainty before Carolina consider anything.

SO I think we are in agreement that Pesce for Lill and a 1st would be a fair value Now weather that works from a cap perspective would be dependent on other moves etc.

If the Leaf's need retained they would need to work out the compensation for that with the 3rd team

I like how you kept Timmins over Lilly. I think that canes Trade is super close, but you'd have to give up a bit more to retain the Salary. Maybe Robertson? Also Brodie deal would be cash dump, and why not trade him for just picks if you're getting Pesce, then you don't need anything else, and can give some marlies who are due for a look, a peek.

I think Lilly and a 1st for Pesce is a touch light, but not millions of miles away. Toronto would also need to be the team paying for retention. This tried to use the Philly pick that Carolina own, but that's Carolina paying for it.
kous liked this.
