We don't need retention on Myers, we can just take him straight from Vancouver full freight.

But that way you can trade him again at TDL 2024 at 25% of his initial salary (1.5M!) and fetch a return from a contender looking for RHD depth for the playoffs.

In this scenario the Ducks are paying you a very high 3rd pick for retaining a number on paper (the cap hit) since Myers won't be due any actual salary. Sorry, that isn't worth a 3rd.

Your whole 3 way trade here is very one sided. Montreal gets rid of a bad contract in Hoffman, a 3rd pair defenseman, a 5th and 7th and get back a 2nd and 3rd.

What in the world is Vancouver going to do with Hoffman and why are they paying you a second for that mess of a trade? The Anaheim part is pointless, but the Vancouver side is down right bad.

That takes unnecessary risk, guy could be injured at the TDL them we're out the third for no reason.

If someone needs double retention on Meyers, the inquiring team can always call Montreal or Arizona come TDL.
