I don't hate the idea of bringing Sway in, I'm a big fan of him and think he'll be real good this season.
It's way too rich of a trade for my liking though, should be Foote + either Schmid or that pick, not both of them.

Schmid has literally played more playoff games than Swayman. Why can't the Devils at least ride this kid a year and see if he's "it" rather than paying the premium?

I agree with your conclusion but not your reasoning. Schmid has played literally one more playoff game than Swayman. Swayman is far more proven, but it's still not worth the risk of trading Schmid.

What I am saying is we are really trying a move here for a guy that has had more opportunities? Goaltending is all people can talk about our downfall for the playoffs, where I see very little difference between Schmid and Swayman.

I don't personally believe that goalies can be judged on their playoff performance alone. The position is very streaky and playoffs are an incredibly small sample size. Swayman has been an above average goalie for three years, whereas Schmid has under 35 games of NHL experience.

I mean, it's one more year....we really counting 10 games as a full season?

congratz swayman has been a full backup for 2-3 yrs whereas Schmid hasnt be a full back up cuz they had Blackwood. Swayman playoffs now lets talk he is 3-4 YIKES.

Swayman failed? He was thrown in to start a G7 after Ullmark started the first 6 games. Aside from the 3 minute he saw in Game 4, he hadn't seen game action in 2 weeks. Even with all that he had FLA held to 2 goals through 59 minutes. McAvoy tips a puck into the goal and the rest is history. Swayman didn't fail at all.

Swayman wasn't the backup either season. He was the 1A in 2021-22 and 1B in 2022-23 behind the Vezina winner. Blackwood was in the NHL because of Devils' incompetency to keep him when he was clearly not a good NHL goalie. Vanecek 2-4 with .834 SV% and 6-11 in playoffs with Nico Hischier, good luck with that though
