I think EDM would want something that help them win right now, not in a few years. Also on defence.
The only asset I can see fitting is Matheson, probably with a bit of retention.
Then, I doubt MTL part ways with him.
So I highly doubt there is anything of interest in MTL to trade to EDM for Bouchard's rights.

But EDM have been missing that offensive top pair D until now. They should do whatever possible to sign him longterm, even if it means sacrificing a bit of depth.

Not a chance, but it's far from the worst try I've seen. A 1-yr bridge deal around 3 to 3.5mil and then give him his long-term contract solves the issue where it is right now. I see no reason why Bouchard shouldn't be able to come in at less than Dobson and K. Miller on a 1-yr deal.
