To wherever Carter will waive. Might need a 3rd team to retain cap space if he’ll only go to a contender, but point is that he gets dumped
    PHI
    1. Carter, Jeff
    2. Nylander, Alexander
    3. 2026 3rd round pick (SJS)
    Additional Details:
Early 3rd to dump. Nylander isn’t worth much but give him a shot elsewhere
    2.
    PIT
    PHI
Go for 4 balanced lines. Pulju gets his last chance in the NHL to prove himself. Tatar has struggled a lot in his playoff career to date but he’s still well worth 3M with his talent

Sadly I think that it is impossible to trade Carter.

Maybe. He still provides value as a faceoff man and maybe in the lockeroom but that’s basically it. I could see a team being interested in him at 1.6M to play 4C (not saying they should be interested, just that some teams value intangibles a lot). I could see it going something like:
      Pittsburgh acquires FC
      Arizona/Philly/whatever acquires Nylander + Carter + SJ 2026 3rd

Arizona/Philly/Whatever flips Carter (1.6 mil retained) for a 7th or FC or some comparable player without the NMC

This way Pittsburgh clears contract and Carter ends up somewhere he’s willing to go. Some contender will look at that 60 FO% and the 29 points and consider him good enough to be worth 1.6M

My problem is not that a team wouldn't be interested in him at 1.6, I just think that he will not waive his NMC.

That would really suck but I dont see any reason why he would decide to refuse leaving l Pittsburgh. He’s a 4C here, has only played here a few years, and it’s not like they’re the best team in the league. If he truly does decide not to waive for anywhere, then he still works as the 4C here, it just means that Eller needs to move up and the overall depth is hurt

I can’t wait for people to blow this thread up saying Philly or whoever team will wants a 1st plus to take carter. When in reality it ain’t that high of pay anymore. Clearly with granlund deal.

Only team I see Carter waiving for would be LA. He and the Flyers aren't on good terms.
