Dont see how Hughes retains half on Allen's salary when he recently extended him to the very same deal. If they retain its on DeSmith's 1 year deal not Allen's 2 year term.

ANA not at all interested in Allen. Why would they be giving up a pick to add another goalie when they have Gibby and Dostal? Not only that, why are you retaining when trading with a team that has zero cap concerns?

considering the # of injuries last year, i beg the differ. At 2M$, it would give them sufficient depth on the right side, all that at a small price.

Dostal is very good, but still young and waiver exempt. Considering the uncertainty vs Gibson intention to stay in Anaheim or providing him some experience goaltender as a backup (goalies are getting armored in ANH, might not be the best context for a young cat to develop like Dostal).With 50% retaining, it will make easy for ANH to trade or buyout if those scenario does not go as planned

Additionnally, DE Smith will be a better backup for Montambeault (vote of confidence) since his job in the NHL as always been a backup

Dude they have a 3rd goalie already in veteran Stalock, and Gibson’s agent publicly said that Gibby doesn’t want to leave ANA.

Ducks will give MTL absolutely nothing for backup goalie #3 no matter how much is retained. If he’s so valuable retained, flip him to whatever team you’re suggesting ANA trades him to directly. No need to involve us unless you want some additional retention, in which case make it a 3 team trade and GIVE us something, not ask us to give

That still makes zero sense to why the Ducks would BUY a goalie. Especially now they have 3 goalies
