If literally every Shark didn't get injured in the 2019 run, I think they would have been the favorite to win. Such a bummer

Yea but that trade and his contract kinda broke the sharks, though it was bound to happen.
This doesn’t even add in Demelo and his tenure or his return and the solid play of Tierny for you guys.
Sharks traded their future for 1 run at the cup and 1 Norris trophy. Ottawa absolutely came out on top in this one.

Stutzle was pure luck/fluke and not intended to be anyway significant value in the trade, so there's not really a comparison that can be fairly made
Sharks were assuming it would be a late 1st and didn't see the tank coming; pretty much everyone has been protecting their 1sts since

For some reason I thought the 1st that ended up being Stutzle was acquired based on conditions of EK65 signing. Looking back it was a Second that ended up being the conditional pick.

Ottawa definitely came out on top but they did get insanely lucky. Josh Norris becoming a 2C was certainly possible but I'm not sure how many people would have predicted it would actually happen. And with Stutzle I don't think many people would have anticipated THAT big of a drop-off from the Sharks in one year.

We traded Demelo for a 3rd which is Meriläinen

Even with his best move (by far), you can easily see how INEXISTANT Dorion asset management is.

I was screaming for almost 2 seasons on another forum "time to trade Tierney, time to trade Tierney" when he had some value. Never happened, so ended up in nothing

Then there was Balcers who could have been part of a package or in return for a pick or another prospect. Ended up waiving him so he wouldn;t put any of Galchenyuk, Paquette or Anisimov on waivers. This is not a major thing but damn, how bad can you be at pro scouting?

Finally, the guy I wanted to keep and the first guy who was helping Chabot a bit, Dylan DeMelo, he traded him for a stupid 3rd round pick instead of giving him what ended up as a reasonable contract.

Josh Norris is a 1 C. In his 22 y/o season, he paced for 43 goals and 68 points. In his rookie season (21 y/o), he had some of the best defensive metrics in the league while facing top competition night after night. I was pretty high on him when we acquired him but didn't know he was an elite goal scorer. I really hope he's going to be back at 100%, what a player

I anticipated the Sharks to miss the playoffs once Pavelski was gone but thought it was going to be the 10th OA at most.

But Dorion said they saw Norris as a good 3rd line C and probably didn't think about the Sharks missing the playoffs.

Guess you got lucky in spite of Dorian’s ineptitude
