why is Bert getting an 8x8??

because of what Troy Terry just got and Zegras is about to get. He will be in that range after this season.

Matthews only wants 4-5 years, So he can cash on a bigger contract once the salary cap really increases.

Connor Hellebuyck would want at least 4 x $8,500,000 if not more. And fat chance in hell he signs in Toronto or with any Canadian team for that matter.

If Bertuzzi is going to get 8 x $8,000,000 then he'd better put up close to 90-100 points on Matthews wing this season.

Zero chance of Steven Stamkos leaving Tampa for Toronto. he's basically said that he has no desire to play for his hometown Leafs. So that's obviously not happening

And no way is Patrick Kane signing with Toronto, it's already been reported that he wants the Rangers only. And is willing to take much less to do it.

And oh FYI, The salary cap is set for $87,500,000 for 2024/2025 NHL season. So you're technically over the cap with only a 20 man roster.
