Sharks decline
Rutta = some value
Rathbone = very little value
Myers = negative value

I'd do it if you added a 3rd

I would probably rather just keep Myers, While in Vancouver, Myers seems to have a bad season followed by a solid season, seeing as how it's a contract year I say he has at least some level of rebound. Now if you could unload Myers for Rutta and add a proven backup in a follow up deal without parting with much in the way of assets then I would have to reconsider.
Peeke is also overrated on this site, he's a bottom pair defenseman.

It seems like Grier would value shedding a year of term and saving real money.

Rutta has positive value, though. We could trade him right now for a pick and not have to take on a big aav contract.

Possibly, but retaining 50% on Myers at the deadline should return something decent as well.

doesn’t make sense to trade a guy w/ positive value for a guy that you have to retain 3 mil on to have positive value, especially when we only have 1 retention spot left.

If you want to retain on Myers further at the deadline your retention spot is only for this year, whereas for Rutta it would be for 2 years.

I don't think the number of teams that
- Would look to add before training camp
- Have a spot open on RD
- Have cap room
- Would add a 33 year old

Is very small, and even then they could just choose another target like Peeke instead.

we would trade Rutta at next TDL. If we retain on Myers, then we can't retain on another big contract like Hoffman/Labanc
