I don’t think he would sign that low of money for four years. If he did, I would hope we would match.

I’m curious if this happened, Edmonton in theory could match, be over the cap temporarily and then buyout/ trade the necessary salary to be cap compliant?

Is there a limit to how much over they can be? Feel like I read somewhere that it’s 10% over the salary cap max, but not 100% sure. Appreciate the response to my previous comment.

Yes, I'll amend and make it a tad more realistic. I think 1-3 years, so I'll do 2.

I wonder who would be the bought-out/traded player?

Not quite sure. I just don’t think anyone other McDavid, Draisatl and maybe RNH is as important to this team as Bouchard.

Yes it’s 10% during the off-season. Teams don’t have to be compliant until the end of training camps.

Kulak and Foegele become expendable if we need to shed more cap.

I’m not trying to be a stereotypical-acgm-douche but….why would he sign with a rebuilding team for a few hundred grand more than he’d get from a contender / quarterbacking a historic pp? If someone wants to offer sheet him, they gotta go big with the salary, and even then I don’t see him signing with a non-playoff team.
