MIN NJD

Created by: Valley_Milkman
Team: 2017-18 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 28, 2017
Published: Jun. 29, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
MIN sheds Pominville's contract and gets a sorely-needed D prospect that's close to competing for an NHL job, while getting a middle 6 replacement for Pominville. OTT gets a new partner for Karlsson and beefs up the wing at the prospect level from positions of strength (C and LD).

NJD shifts towards competing sooner, while still getting a long-term piece for the back end in Ceci. OTT beefs the C prospect pipe right back up, while moving Ryan's contract.

Brown would be nice to have and so would cap space. But not at the cost of Brodin and Greenway

I was just starting to type the same thing, Wabit. Greenway might be the Wild's #1 prospect and Brodin is a stud! I also would love to have Logan Brown in a Wild sweater, but not at this price.

Appreciate the feedback. I'd originally had the trade in my head as Brodin, Pominville, and a pick for Brown and Dzingel, but a Wild friend of mine pointed out that MIN is really hurting for LHD prospects that are close to NHL-ready, which is a massive position of strength for OTT. RW is by far OTT's weakness from a prospect perspective, but trading Tuch took away MIN's top chip there, so I looked over at LW, and thought Greenway could be a fit, since I have him behind at least Eriksson Ek and Kunin for overall prospects, and probably Kaprizov as well (though the last is close). Given OTT's reluctance to touch Russians in the past decade, that put Greenway as the most likely.

Any suggestions on either changing the LD prospect moving MIN's way while keeping Greenway in the trade (Harpur is probably the most NHL-ready of the others, though he would probably require the Wild to give up a bit more in terms of the pick / adding another later pick to the deal), or keeping Englund going to the Wild with somebody other than Greenway as the return for OTT?

Also curious what NJD fans think of the other deal. It obviously implies the the Devils are moving towards competing sooner, but I think it might be something that they consider sooner rather than later given Schneider's age.

Terrible trade for NJ. Giving up one of our top prospects and a 1st in next year's stacked draft for a cap dump in Ryan and a bit of an overrated player in Ceci. I'd be interested in those players in other deals but not involving these assets.

I would actually really love the idea of getting Ryan for like a mid-round pick and a decent prospect. Devils are light on RW, Ryan is from the area and would be a nice veteran to add to the young squad. Ottawa wants to get out of that contract and we have the cap space.
