Tkachuk

There is no universe where I'm trading a promising young player and a 2nd for one year of Tarasenko. I know he's a good player but the future cost is not worth it.

3 way trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>psoglav</b></div><div>So the Blues give up Tarasenko, Kyrou, Neighbours & a 1st for a player who is demanding a trade or he walks as an UFA next summer? Two players coming off PPG seasons, an NHL-ready prospect with good upside and a 1st?
Safe to say that's an easy pass.</div></div>
All true but if Tkachuk gets traded somewhere and signs an extension, St. Louis isn't getting him at all. That's why they're paying up here.

The main problem is that Toffoli is 30 and only has two years left on his deal. No chance in hell the Devils trade a 1st in a strong draft for a guy like that.
Tkachuk is a different story.

If you want two firsts, there's a pick swap in there or something else coming back from Calgary.

I'd do that in a heartbeat for Tkachuk. Very small price to pay, assuming he's signing long term in NJ.

Devils aren't giving up that much for only two years of Nylander but I think there'd be a discussion to be had if Tkachuk doesn't work out.

This Detroit trade has been in my head the last 24 hours.
I sincerely hope that Montreal just takes Wright so we can get Slaf but if they don't, anything is on the table.

I also think he wants to stay. I'm saying if that if he did not, this wouldn't be terrible for us.

Nobody (especially not the Devils) is trading their 2023 1st without protections on it. For us, I'd assume that would be Top 5 protected.

I'm stunned to see a pretty reasonable trade on these things! I'd say the Devils would think very hard about accepting that. Helps both teams and doesn't strike me as a crazy price. Probably some picks on either side to balance out.

Big Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Whalers7997</b></div><div>Toronto would never do that. Dubas would need to be Chia level and drunk AF to pull that trade.</div></div>
Actually I would argue that's too MUCH for Marner. Toronto has to make some changes because of the flat cap and Marner makes almost 11 million against the cap while getting paid like $14 million in signing bonuses. There's very few (if any) teams that can absorb that contract in the current league situation.

This is a bad take and this trade would be grand larceny in favor of Boston. McDavid is the best player in the WORLD and I wouldn't say that either McAvoy or Pastrnak are even the best players at their POSITION.

Exactly. If you want to GUARANTEE that Hall resigns, here's your lineup. This team would be ludicrously good as long as the goaltender keeps going the way it has been.

I've got Hall on $11 million AAV and Hischier at $7.5 million. Which I'd say is fairly close to what they'll get. I generally went on the high side for most of the contracts on purpose.

Ray Shero hire me
I agree that the WIld trade might not be enough but I think the Jets one is pretty darn close.
The Jets are clearing $10 million in cap space, getting a top 4 defenseman with a year left on his deal at only $2 million with the retention AND getting a cost controlled, talented asset in Bratt to step into a top 6 role. That's not a bad deal for them at all. Maybe up the draft pick to a 3rd and then you're really there.

Yeah if we're taking on 100% of both contracts, there's no shot you're getting Coleman. I'd be very willing to include a lower level prospect that still has an NHL future like Seney, which I think would be a pretty fair trade. I'd even retain salary on Vatanen in that case.
