Not even close to enough for Petey, take that whole 3rd line you have and add them with the 2 1sts and Van might still say no

Petey is offended by your offer. He'll PLD the Sabres at this rate.

We’ll take one of Thompson, Dahlin, or Power please

If you’re going the package route then start with Savoie and one of Peterka/Quinn

If he won't sign who can afford his contract that would give up more that is positioned to win?

It wasnt long ago sabres fans said that for eichel. When was the last time a star got traded for anywhere near what they were actually worth?

Eichel had term but was injured. Pettersson here would be healthy but no contract

more importantly, both only get dealt if they want out, that more or less drives value down. In pettersson's case if he doesn't want to re-sign that kind of puts a clock on things for VAN

You can't expect to get a 24 year old top 5-10 C without giving up something of similar caliber.

I don't recall Eichel having a 100 point, Selke caliber season. I also don't recall Pettersson having a career threatning neck injury that required a complicated procedure.

Tkachuk was traded for a top 5 winger (Huberdeau was a franchise level 100 point winger), top 20 RHD in Weegar, and a first. Guess what? Calgary STILL lost that trade, and look silly now.

The Carolina offer from earlier today is far more enticing than this package.

I don't recall a time a star player asked out with no contract in place (not saying thats what is going to happen, just that its the only scenario the canucks would likely move him) and got anywhere near what they were actually worth.

Except we have the far better player. Unless bridges are burnt, Pettersson doesn't have any bad feelings towards the Canucks either unlike Eichel

Am I wrong? Go back to last season and ask people. Huberdeau was absolutely a top 5 winger at the time. He literally had 115 points that season

Right now? Yes absolutely, but come on, Huberdeau was an elite player in Florida. He didn't put up 115 points by accident, and have multiple way above a point per game seasons.

Huberdeau was a front runner, not a play driver. Bunch of empty points that werent a reflection of his true impact. he's a good player. And florida sold high before he cooled off into what he actually is.

No matter which way you spin things, Huberdeau was absolutely a massive player to get back in the trade. He literally outproduced Tkachuk, yet the Flames still ended up looking silly

I don't think his current form is who he is. It wasn't just 1 good season. He has consistently been a point per game for a lot of his career
