That’s funny, I was thinking the Hawks say no.

Zegras is only 22 years old, and the picks Chicago would be giving up aren't even their own, the two 1sts will be between 20th and 32nd. They'll still have their own 1sts in 2024 and 2025, and their own 2nd in 2024. They lose draft capital for sure.. those second rounders may develop into role players during Bedard's prime, but they may also not.. Zegras will be the best player between himself and any of those picks, so for that reason I think if I were Chicago I'd go for it.

I doubt Anaheim wants to prolong their own rebuild though, by doing this move. Zegras is their number one center right now unless/until McTavish or Carlsson can overtake him. If they really, really, really for some reason can't come to a contract agreement with him, the Ducks would likely at least ask for a more sure replacement, someone like recent 19th OA C Oliver Moore, who many would say dropped from where he really ought to have been picked. There was a 4 or 5 part series I watched on youtube, detailing the Blackhawks 2022-23 season and up to the draft. It showed Davidson figuratively biting his nails as each pick through the teens was made, and when the Jets selected their guy at 18th, Davidson was heard to say, "I can't f---king believe it" lol. They had apparently tried to trade up (to Nashville I think?) offering the 19th and 41st or something like that, but Nashville said no. Davidson got his guy anyway!

Anaheim passes, easily

Zegras is worth more to us that 2 late 1st rounders and 2 2nds

Then the Hawks are pretty idiotic tears of joy

A couple late 1sts and a couple seconds get no where close to Zegras tears of joy
