From The Core Four To The Nuclear One

Created by: KingExLeafs
Team: 2023-24 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 31, 2023
Published: Aug. 31, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade Nylander and Marner. They want to compare themselves to Matthews and be paid based on the pay scale he has established but they're not Matthews and never will be. Marner doesn't deserve a raise, so him asking for 12 + on his next contract, which he is expected to, is a joke. Trade him now. And Nylander is not a 10 million dollar player, so why overpay for him just to keep him? Trade him too.

As for JT, he'll probably stay around and play in the 3C role on a much cheaper deal, which means the Leafs need to trade both Marner and Nylander for another elite center to play behind Matthews and a bona-fide number 1 defenceman to play ahead of Rielly.
Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Pettersson, Elias
Additional Details:
Deadline deal as it appears that Pettersson won't resign in Vancouver because they're out of the playoffs once again. Pettersson has made it clear that he wants to sign for a competitive team that makes the playoffs every year.
VAN
  1. Liljegren, Timothy
  2. Nylander, William
  3. 2024 1st round pick (TOR)
2.
TOR
  1. Power, Owen
  2. Skinner, Jeff
Additional Details:
Power is due a big raise much like Dahlin, so where is the money coming from? Removing the Skinner contract will be a big challenge for Buffalo. I think it'll make sense for Buffalo to package Skinner with Power and go big game hunting, landing a top playmaker to play with either Thompson or Cozens.

Did you ask where the money is coming from for power? Perhaps do a little research.

We're fine. Big fat no from buffalo.

Skinner is a real value contract, that's right

I was referring to Tage Thompson & Cozens
But AGAIN….

We don’t want Marner
And we aren’t trading Power
The End

Accept it, or don’t….. i could care less either way

PS
have fun when Nylander walks 🤣🤣🤣

Yea, definitely. But in order to keep the cap number down it'll be better to trade for him and sign him to an eight year extension.

Lol you’re lost buddy. Nylander is the big piece in this deal. If he can be had for free, I’d imagine the Canucks simply get him for free. They aren’t trading a franchise center to save a few bucks. This is a horrendous trade idea

Power would be the Leafs best dman

you can keep him, Leafs want nothing to do with a guy that will get pushed around. Easy pass
