They’d want Seider, but they might settle for Edvinsson. Can’t go with neither

As much as I don't want and at the same time doubt Petey ends up getting moved this is a pretty damn good offer. Obvs the Canucks would want Edvinnson but I doubt Detroit would move him and getting Kasper and Raymond on top of a first-round pick + some more additional assets is a very solid return i think

Pettersson and Zegras are franchise guys.

Wings’ best bet may be Morgan Frost

Redo trade. If you want to trade for franchise players you better be willing to give yours up right?

If those guys don't sign then I could see them being moved and these were some good trade offers

We could do the same right trade for Seider and give you some great prospects and a few picks, does that sound good?

Moritz Seider will most likely sign a long term contract for big money. I don't think Pettersson will sign in Vancouver. Good luck getting a better offer than this. This was a very strong and fair offer.

What report do you have suggesting it? Last I saw they are putting it on hold so they can focus on this season and not have it be a distraction. Plus he has RFA rights, so even if he doesn't want to play there Canucks still will have his rights

Think I remember Petterson when interviewed during that Swedish media tour (might have been 32 thoughts?) saying he doesn’t want to be anywhere other than Vancouver. So yea, have to believe he is signing, whether that is soon or end of the season doesn’t matter.

Obvious rebuttal against op to target Seider. The only leg OP have to stand on here is a belief that Petterson will not sign in Vancouver (while there is no similar indication from Seider). Otherwise, this is a very fair comp in terms of untouchable players to their respective teams and you are correct that this package doesn’t do it, although it is a pretty big offer.

As far as OP thinking Detroit needs a big fish (Petterson and Zegras), I just think it’s silly. Since Detroit has not had lottery luck, the Yzerplan is to win with death by a thousand cuts, extreme depth. Similarly to how Vegas and St. Louis recently won cups. It’s not to say at some point that Yzerman won’t make a move for a pretty good player, just don’t see him leveraging good prospects already in our pool that he drafted himself. Some might not like those comparisons, but look at a wings 2025-26 projected depth chart, it is a strong back end with centre depth, very similar

“I got one more year left over there. And I don't want to rush into anything because I still don't know myself if it's going to be a short- or long-term (contract),” Pettersson told Friedman. “It's going to be probably my biggest contract so far. So I don't want to stress anything.”

Well for one players lose a lot more money when playing in Canada because of taxes.
