Blue Jackets Finished

Created by: shaunwm2000

Initial Creation Date: Sep. 6, 2023
Published: Sep. 6, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
CBJ is in a tough position, the team doesn't look to bad on paper, especially if Fantilli is a fit right out of the gate, but they still defiantly need more scoring, but could be okay if Sillinger, Johnson & Marchenko take a big step. The defence is defiantly better, but now it is a bit crowed since they didn't move anyone out when acquiring Provorov & Severson, so they could flip Boqvist or Bean for some scoring or maybe even goaltending if Elvis doesn't bounce back.

This team is good enough for a lottery pick next year. I'd say 4th place in the reverse standings.

If either of Peeke or Boqvist is going to play 1RD I'd assume it's going to be Boqvist.

Bemstrom would not get into the lineup over Olivier, Danforth, or probably even Voronkov. He simply does not have what it takes to be a bottom 6 guy and he's not good enough to be a top 6 guy. Voronkov also has an escape clause to return to the KHL if he's not playing in the NHL by December so he's likely going to get into the lineup quickly. Could see him getting the 3C spot over Sillinger who is still waiver exempt.

Texier probably looks better on the 4th line with ERob and Kuraly. He really clicked with those guys before everything off the ice happened. This would also open up a 3rd line spot for Chinakhov who was looking solid in that role last year before his high ankle sprain that essentially ended his season.

I'm hopeful that the Laine center experiment continues. If they can afford to play Boone on the 3rd line to give Sillinger a solid veteran linemate then I think he's set up for a better season. Rosie in a top 6 wing role might get them some good results.

I appreciate the input! I completely forgot about Voronkov! He def gets a shot on the 3rd line so yeah I moved Texier down to give him a chance to readjust to the NHL. But I defiantly think Peeke has the edge over Boqvist for the RD1 spot, just find he complements Werenski more.

Scoring hasn't been the primary issue for this team. The real challenges have been on the defensive end, with goals slipping through. However, with Werenski's return to full health and the acquisitions of Provorov and Severson, combined with another year of development from Boqvist, Peeke, Bean, Blankenburg, and Jiricek, the team is poised to strengthen its defensive depth significantly. It's also worth noting that they now have a coach who brings a wealth of expertise to the table.

As we look ahead, there's genuine optimism for this team's performance this year. The firepower up front remains formidable, and the additions of Fantilli and Voronkov are set to bolster the team's presence down the middle. With more NHL experience under their belts, this squad is on the cusp of becoming a truly formidable force that will prove challenging for any opponent to contend with.
