Right now? Probably! At the deadline with him healthy and putting up 21/22 numbers and the sharks using up their last retention spot, it might be an underpayment

Sharks don't have an insane amount of offensive talent to juice his numbers. Even on Florida he was scoring at a 0.5ppg pace. Can't see it being much more than a 2nd.

To be fair if that’s you’re best prospect your team shouldn’t be trading picks or prospect and should think about rebuilding their prospect depth! Cause Howard doesn’t get in the sharks top 5 prospect and likely not even our top 10.

Howard is insanely talented but often overlooked because freshmen don't really get much ice time on college teams, which is why his numbers were subpar. Tampa shouldn't look to move him BECAUSE they have a weak prospect pool. Duclair is an easy acquisition with a few picks.

With the cap they way it is, and with him playing with Hertl or Couture plus top pp time he could be a 30 goal (or close to it) guy and making 1.5 mil after retention Teams will pay a lot for that!

I think you’re overvaluing him! Lund was from the same draft and put up better numbers on a worse college team and he’s like 8th on sharks prospect pool.

Wait I’m saying the guy who put up better numbers in college his rookie year is the sharks 8th ranked prospect and you’re naming your guy 1st. No this is 100% me properly evaluating my player and you overvaluing your player.

Tampa should not be doing that. We can get a better player for that package. Howard is our best prospect, BB is gonna be in the NHL this year either as a depth forward or a top 6 guy. If i was to go after Duclair, the most i would give up is a lesser prospect like Jack Thompson or Roman Schmidt and a pick and then pay another team a mid round pick to retain the 50% needed to be cap compliant

not a Bolts fan.

Howard barely saw the ice. He's going to do a lot better now as he ages and gets more ice time and will 100% not be involved in any Duclair trade, a noted player who just got traded for scraps by the way.

Yea lol can’t lie we got him for a steal!

To be fair only reason we got that deal is last years injuries. If he rebounds he is going to have a lot of value.

Duclair is a UFA. Gourde (one year), Goodrow (one year) and Jeannot (RFA) were all under control at the end of the season and it is why he paid more (too much for Jeannot but still). If they opt for a UFA, it's unlikely he overpays as much as in this proposed trade.

Agreed, JBB will overpay on players that have some level of term or team control. Duclair has neither, and there are better options that may be available.at the tdl(Niederreiter for sure if the Jets are selling) that Tampa should look at. In any case, for a pure rental, which is all Tampa should be looking at this deadline, Tampa shouldn't be overpaying like this.

Maybe, but not for Duclair(or any other ufa most likely), which are the only players that JBB should be looking at given their amount of likely cap space next off season. Unless it's for a relatively inexpensive middle/bottom 6 depth add that he might be able to fit, JBB shouldn't be backing up the truck for 15-20 games and one playoff run.
