All three of them do. Ekholm and Weegar are elite 2 way dmen. Chychrun is a very good 2 way dman. Rielly is solid offensively, but atrocious in his own end

Well weegar maybe does but he should play on the right side

Rielly has the best EV offense and hits while also preforms in the playoffs there… That’s what you want from your LD3

How did Hyman make the cut over Nugent-Hopkins?

Per Evolving Hockey both Ekholm and Chychrun were better offensively last season. Same with The Athletic

I couldn’t find JFresh cards for Rielly or Weegar for this season, but Ekholm was 94th percentile EV Offense, 91st percentile EV Defense, and 91st percentile WAR. Chychrun at the time of being traded was 58th percentile EV Offense, 79th percentile EV Defense, and 61st percentile WAR. Weegar prior to this season was 97th percentile EV Offense, 95th Percentile EV Defense, and 97th percentile WAR. The only thing I could find about Rielly this season was in February his EV Defense was 4th percentile

Going off of last 3 of the last 4 years, Rielly's EV offence is in he 98th percentile to 100th percentile. Not really going to argue about defense bc Rielly hasn't been very good at it... But the one thing these stat card don't show either is the leadership and willingness to fight, which is another thing Rielly's very good at and I value a ton is hitting, especially these past 3 years, and willingness to fight... Rielly's gone after the likes of Maroon, Zadorov, the Bruins etc. and while you may not value it, for a 3LD, I certainly do...

To add, Rielly should be getting a lot more brakes and should have a repeat of the 2019-20 season where he had 72 in 82 based on the situation and will preform in the playoffs again...

That's weird bc https://www.hockeyfights.com/players/16129, Rielly has 3 and I know Rielly's faught Zadorov after he hit Kase, Nosek after his crosscheck on Lilly and other occasions as well and Chychrun+Ekholm hit totals have been balloned by 1 big hit year

For the hits I only did their 22/23 totals based on what Hockey Reference had them at. For the fights I used hockeyfights.com which I figured would have the right amount

Hits, fair, that's the total amount during their careers but fighting is very ref based as the refs could give you 2 minutes for roughing instead of fighting and stuff like that
