Vancouver clears 1.5M in cap space for this year, while acquiring forward depth and a much better back up goaltender. Armia's contract isn't great but he's still a valuable bottom-6 forward. Adding him in the trade means Vancouver doesn't have to pay a high pick to offload Myers.

I'd do it without the picks but I'm not sure Kent Hughes would in reality.

Canucks do not need more forwards.We already need to trade a couple.We also have a very good back up goalie Silovs.This trade is not a fit for us.IMHO.

How does this make any sense for Vancouver?? Armia is a redundant (for Vancouver) over paid bottom 6 player that will add 8.6 M real dollars over TWO years to the Canucks payroll. Desmith is not going to get Montreal any value with that salary and given their roster crunch. Teams will likely pick him up for free on waivers soon enough. Myers may not have much value, but at a 1 M real salary as a big RD the Canucks probably get some kind of pick WITHOUT having to take all that garbage back.
