No I think from the Sharks. Good chance those guys are worth 2nds on their own at the TDL if they are having good years. 2.5 and 3m are low enough cap hits that many contenders will be able to fit them in without us having to use our retention slot. That means its still available to move a contract like Hoffman's or Labanc's and so creates a trade possibility that might not have been there otherwise.

I assume Vrana retained will get more depending on play

Depends on how Vrana is playing. If he continues his pace from the end of last year I think he gets more than just a 3rd round pick

Doubtful Pysyk & White get a contract and, if they do, they’re ticketed for waivers & WB/S. Barring additional injuries, Pitlick is WB/S-bound, as well. You model counts on Helberg beating out Nedeljkovic, which you can’t do at this point.

or if we retain on either of those two it would be to get a first

I see all as sellers at TDL, but with retention they will be at premium. Also PITT is losing a lot of already low draft capital, once the core retires going to be lean times in the igloo.

I think Pysyk is better than Ruhwedel, not by much, but still. But you're right about White probably being sent down to WBS if he does get a contract.

I am curious who you think could be sent out to make the money work for any of these trades. I honestly don't know.

Yeah, I’m no Ruhwedel fan, that’s for sure. Wouldn’t mind at all if he ends up on waivers. But I think Smith is better than both Ruh and Pysyk.

Gotta look at it this way, Pysyk & White were available and Dubas instead signed Johnsson, Hinostroza, Koppanen, Butcher, and Shea. Mgmt clearly favors those guys over Pysyk & White. Never enough good depth, tho, for sure.
