Pinto

Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 15, 2023

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just bored and thought I would try a Pinto trade. I honestly don't expect them to trade him though.

Trade Details:

Ottawa receives a not as good but similar age with upside centre in Veleno. He plays a fast physical game with decent defensive play. Could develop into a decent 3C for Ottawa. Bonus as he would already have some chemistry with Kubalik.
Fabbri provides some additional scoring for cheap. Can play up and down in three line up, is fairly one dimensional but at 2M cap hit should provide good value. He can also play centre if needed. He should replace most of the offense lost from Pinto.
Doucet is a rising centre prospect who has been impressing everywhere he has been playing so far since signing with the Wings. He's likely a couple years away but helps fill a pretty void centre prospect pool.
Added a second in 2025 to try and balance value.

For the Wings, they get a good young centre who has already had a decent first season. Would have chemistry with Debrincat which is a bonus. He seems like the type of player Yzerman would look to acquire.
Joseph is added to help with the Sens cap space. He's an alright player but seemingly 1-1.5M overpaid for his production.

Ottawa doesn't necessarily get better but gets under the cap, gets a young (not as good) replacement player with upside, moves Joseph's 3 years and can run a 22 man roster all while adding a prospect and pick.

Detroit gets a bit better but takes on more money to navigate around.

I signed Brassard to fill the 4C roll.
I started Berggren in Grand Rapids, nothing based on his play, just roster management. Besides Raymond, he is the only player that can clear waivers. Could play him with Pinto and Compher but I would prefer Kostin playing there for now. I also want to see how Joseph plays on the fourth line. Could scratch Joseph, move Kostin down then play him there, but this is how I would start the roster.
Compher and Copp could easily be swapped.
Should also be some chemistry with Brassard and Joseph.

I can’t see ottawa considering it. The only moves that make sense would be a 1 for 1 for a Mazur or Berggren

I wouldn't hate a Berggren move for him. Rather keep Berggren if at all possible.

Yzerman is still purging all of KH's draft picks so Velano and Berggren are up for grabs.

I'd do Berggren for Pinto straight up but would prefer Velano and a 2nd for Pinto.

Veleno and a 2nd is what you trade a struggling player for. Pinto isn’t struggling

I agree with that. I tried to make my package have a replacement C, same age with upside just not as good. A similar aged player to Joseph that could help replace the lost offense. In a way I had Veleno to replace what Joseph brought and Fabbri to replace the offence of Pinto. Added to try and make it more even cause I really like Pinto.

Do we really need Pinto? With Larkin, Compher, and Copp locked up for half a decade or more and Kasper and Danielson banging on the door Pinto would have to come cheap in order for me to be interested.

I would consider this pretty cheap. Copp and Compher aren't really real long term options plus they can slide to the wing easy enough. I wouldn't consider it a need but it would make our team better now and in the long run. I consider Veleno expendable and the future second likely can be recouped at the deadline when we sell a few pieces. In the end it would be another young piece that could be here long term and extra insurance incase Kasper and Danielson don't develop as expected. I know both have looked real good but injuries and other factors can come into play. I rather have more high end players than less.

True, but they also can't (currently) afford to sign him. Cat was basically only 1st and Kubalik.

Either way, I doubt it happens.

Pinto was a rookie , is under team control and can be bridged . It’s not the same

Not remotely interesting for Ottawa

Joseph > Fabbri : Sens can't afford to trade one of their best defensive forward for what would be their poorest. They save 0.95 AAV here but still not a trade I would like. They don't need Fabbri one-dimensional offense

That leaves Pinto for Doucet, Veleno and a 2nd. Absolutely not but thanks

Not looking to trade Pinto and even less for "quantity"

Since Raymond, Danielson (and the D-men) would be out the question, I'd only deal Pinto if I could get Kasper.

would prefer Velano and a 2nd for Pinto.

Not even close though
