what do you think Thrun’s upside is, though? I would say a really high-end 4th defenseman or a low-end 3rd defenseman who can be a really steady defensive presence and chip in offensively as well. A balanced two-way defenseman.
Yeah agreed, a top defensive prospect (right-shot preferably) is the main thing this team needs. A lot of cap space freeing up soon, I think 25/26 season is a good target date to be somewhat competitive.
Personally I see him having a a high floor and a decent ceiling. Not star level by any means but an all around good player. Shakir I think could be Heiskenen level. So damn smooth and really smart, but may need a full season to adjust to the North American pace.
As for RHD, Laroque looked so much better than I thought. He missed so much time with injury but when he was healthy he was great in Juniors and was a leader on that team. Unfortunately so many of the RD in our system weren't available, be it college or Europe, I really liked the Landen and Pohlkamp picks, and Havelid has been playing great to start the season in Sweden logging a ton of minutes.
I think if the Sharks are in the 3-8 zone of this next draft they'll go for a RHD, there's some really special d-men in this draft
