Freidman already reported that any Pinto deal would start at $2.5M so how would that work?

Pinto's comparable would be like Dillon Dube at 3x$2.3M.

Ottawa is so hyped right now.

Dube extension was 2 years ago, why not look at more recent signings of forwards out of their ELCs?

Noah Cates $2,625,000 x 2 years
Cody Glass $2,500,000 x 2 years
Morgan Frost $2,100,000 x 2 years
Ryan McLeod $2,100,000 x 2 years
Jack McBain $1,599,999 x 2 years
Rafaël Harvey-Pinard $1,100,000 x 2 years
Nils Höglander $1,100,000 x 2 years
Ty Dellandrea $900,000 x 1 year
Joseph Veleno $825,000 x 1 year
Oliver Wahlstrom $874,125 x 1 year

IMO, Pinto on 2 years should be around 1.8 AAV and on 1 year should be 1.5 AAV at most but Dorion is most likely going to overpay

I used Dube because he's the best comparable for points and games at the moment of signing. Also position: Centers get more than wingers.

ok but do you agree that Morgan Frost would be a good comparable? Center and got 46 pts last season. He's older (so closer to UFA status) and had arbitration rights (something Pinto doesn't have)

Cates, Glass, McLeod, McBain and Veleno are also centers

I don't konow what to tell you. I used the contract comparable tool on this site, made a custom profile matching Pinto's age, points, games and position and the result was that Dube was the best recent match at 3x2.3M.

You want to compare him to a $2.1M AAV guy? Sure, a 200K difference is nothing worth loosing time arguing about.

The bottom line is that the 8x6.5M contract suggested here is a giant leap.

We're not arguing lol, I am listing recent comparable contracts. Ok you used a tool to find an (outdated) comparison. I am offering more recent comparisons, only thing you need to do is seize the information

And totally agreed on the last point, I don't think Pinto will earn that kind of contract, at least not now
