There's always a first, And no one here ever said Nylander only to Detroit. And when was the last time that Yzerman ever overpaid for a player? That's right he never did overpay for any player. And he won't for William Nylander either.

Yzerman isn't going to give Nylander between $9M - $10M. Especially after giving DeBrincat $7.875M. DeBrincat has more goals in fewer games and the same ppg.
