You know what would stop the trade chatter? Re-signing him at equal or greater value to what his camp is looking for.

    Lol. So needs to be…

    1. Better players
    2. On cheaper contracts
    3. Signed long-term.

    Okay….

To me for Nylander Leafs should be looking for a trade where they bring in guys who can help them win now rather than prospects not even close to being NHL ready or 1st round picks (unless they decide to flip them)

Kind of something like what we saw with PLD

It's why I don't see a deal happening. No team would give that up and the Leafs are in win now mode, it's a dead end

They need a defense back in a Nylander trade, but I would keep Nylander

Still a lot of time to see if anything happens

I feel we could see what happened with Horvat happen with Willy. Toronto will try to extend if not close they will see what the market holds. Horvat despite being a rental got a pretty nice return Tree plays his cards right could get something similar maybe more as some team could get desperate and really overpay.

As lets say he gets 1st + Kartye + Bjorkstrand he can then take the first and like Van flip it for someone else (top 4 RD or a nice middle 6 forward on a good deal like TBL did with Hagel, Coleman, etc. or a top 4 RD like we saw with Hronek)

I posted some Nylander Trade Comps earlier.

    One I forgot:

    1) BUF/NYI 2013-14 pre-season

    - to BUF: Moulson, 1st, 2nd
    - to NYI: Vanek

    2) BUF/MIN 2013-14 deadline

    - to BUF: Mitchell, 2nd, 2nd
    - to MIN: Moulson

    3) 2014 Free Agency: Buffalo signs Moulson $5m x 5 years

In this comp, Buffalo sent Vanek for Moulson and some picks in October. Then at deadline, Buffalo shipped off Moulson for more picks. Then on July 1st, Buffalo signed Moulson as UFA to 5 year deal. In total, Buffalo swapped a few months of Thomas Vanek for 5+ years of Matt Moulson, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 7th.

If you want an equal or greater player, at lower cap hit, with more term, plus some goodies….that is about all I could come up with.

    Good luck.

That's actually really nice work by you not gonna lie, it's moreso just tough because if you trade Nylander you undoubtedly getting worse this year and I highly doubt they'd do that in a year as crucial as this
