Trades
1.
NJD
He will be off the team and on the Chicago Wolves once he gets waived, due to the clause of his contract with the Chicago Wolves since they are an independent AHL team. They originally belonged to the Hurricanes, hence this "trade"
    2.
    CAR
    1. Smith, Brendan
    2. 2024 3rd round pick (NJD)
    3. 2026 2nd round pick (NJD)
    Additional Details:
This trade works out for both teams, but I can see Carolina saying no. This is in the case that they need to trade a player in order to be below the cap. Getting rid of Pesce makes the most sense, and they are still getting a decent return for wanting to sell someone. This is up for discussion, so give me your opinions
    3.
    NJD
    1. 2024 6th round pick (WSH)
    WSH
    1. Miller, Colin
    2. 2024 7th round pick (NSH)
    Additional Details:
This is more of a cap dump for the Devils. You play Miller to start the year and let Nemec develop in the AHL. Once he is ready to play in the NHL, trade Miller away to make space for Pesce and Nemec.

I'm assuming the Miller trade can be to any team, but Washington is one of the least likely destinations for a RHD

I get where you're coming from, but it was either him or Hanifan. It makes more sense to get Hanifan, but I wanted to see what people think. It's a good trade for both teams.

Just a random team. I picked Washington because their depth is horrible. Could go to any team that has cap though

We have Carlson, Jensen, and TVR with Iorio looking NHL ready on RD. It might be our strongest positional depth on the team lmfao
Also we don't have cap space

Carolina declines for sure. Value isn't there, and we're a likely playoff matchup. If we add a defenseman at the deadline, it shouldn't be a guy like Pesce or Hanifin. I would much rather a depth guy like Gostisbehere, or keeping the D group as-is. If we're adding at the deadline it's most likely a goalie.

I don't think they go that big, they just need a 3RHD that can play PK. It's really the biggest question mark on the roster outside whatever people want to worry about goaltending (this is a team that lost a very bad goalie and gets to play a kid that played really well). Colin Miller didn't play a lot of PK prior, but that's what they need while Luke and Hamilton play on PP.

I could see the most expensive they might go is Zaitsev from CHI or if WPG is bad, Demelo.

The Pesce move only works for the Devils, and actively screws the Canes over. Canes already removed Pesce from the trade block, and even if he was still on it, he wouldn’t be moved at the deadline, and especially not to the Devils.
