Defense looking very shaky

Created by: Prime_Jimbo

Description
Preseason game #3 and outside Cole and Hronek pairing, it's not looking good. Had some hopes for Irwin but now I understand why his deal landed the way it did despite good defensive numbers in Washington last season. Wolanin can't be paired with Myers as he lacks the defensive game to support Myers, despite Myers being a giant. Nobody is doing enough to earn the left spot D/top right spot with Hughes. If they make no moves, prayers for Demko.

LOL, way to twist my words bud. I said "his stats don't represent the player YOU think they represent", not that results don't represent a player.

Let me break it down for you.

You stated that Peeke has shown no ability, his stats show he blocks a heck of a lot of shots.

You said Peeke has has shown no results at any point, once again, his stats show he not only blocks a lot of shots, but he also lays a lot of hits per season.

Each of these translate into a decent penalty killer and defensive defensemen. In short your claim that Peeke has done nothing at any point and has shown no ability are not backed up by a simple check of the players stats and visual representation of his playing style.

I love that your go to is blocking a ton of shots.

Why is the other team getting so many shots against him - even relative to other 1st pair D?

(It's because he's bad)

If you've never heard the saying about blocking shots, now's a great time to learn it.

"Blocking shots is like killing rats. If you do it - it's objectively a good thing, but if you find yourself doing it often - you have a much bigger problem"

My take is not only about blocking shots, it is about playing defense in which blocking shots is a part of and so are throwing hits as a defenseman. And why you are complaining so much about a small trade involving a 3rd pairing D that everybody else but you agrees is where Peeke belongs is beyond words.
