If petey doesnt resign
That's a bit steep man, maybe if the 2024 1st is top 10 protected. Essentially the Canucks are getting a very high 1st round pick (probably top 5 as it is) plus 2 prospects who are 1st rounders (Ceulemans, Johnson), a 2nd round prospect (Del Bel Belluz), with Dumais as a sweetener.
Pettersson is a great player but he is due a new, heavy contract, and giving up young players with team control just doesn't make sense to me for CBJ. Although it would clear some room for prospects but I would rather clear the vets underperforming tbh.

I wasn't referring to your comment or take, simply looking at the trade and giving my comments from a Jackets perspective.

Canes Jackets now vs future
Interesting proposal, I'm not sure this gets it done but it's something to consider. I guess it would hinge on the Jackets opinion of KK. I'm assuming Morrow is similar to Ceulemans from a prospect standpoint.

I don't much much about the other prospects involved but why are the Jackets trading Jiricek here?.....The return isn't too bad but the jackets need a top pairing RD and they don't come around often unless you draft high or get lucky. So I just can't see them trading Jiricek for an aging D, late 1st, and C prospect (although Minten is intriguing).

Leafs - Blue Jackets
I don't see the Jackets trading Jenner for a rental and a couple meh draft picks. I do think Jenner would be a great fit on the Leafs (but would hate to see it tbh). With that said, I just think it takes a lot more to get done given his salary and team control plus fit.

No shot, just keeping Leafs fans in check wanting players for peanuts just for being Toronto

Bertuzzi doesn't make sense here but Toronto has no other player they can (or would) move to make the cap hit work. If Klingberg were an option that would of been my choice but he is LTIR.

This is the Toronto price, all other teams would be a 2nd.

BOONE TO THE BRUINS
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CANUCKS4EVA</b></div><div>Maybe change to a first?</div></div>
I think it would have to start with more. Potentially a first, prospect and more. Adding a late 1st in this draft doesn't move the needle much if the scouts are saying a huge talent drop off looks to be after pick 20 this year (but the draft is always a bet so who knows). Jenner will fetch a haul if traded (Friedman even said so on 32 thoughts).
Here are my thoughts:
Jenner provides a TON of value for his cap hit ($3.75M) locked in for a couple more years. He is built for the playoffs, is great at Faceoffs (55%+) and gritty. He would be an excellent fit on the Bruins imo but I don't see them paying what the ask would be considering team control and everything else.

So CBJ trades Laine, retains 50%, and gives up a 2nd……for DeAngelo? A pending UFA and position not needed next year regardless. TF…..no shot

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Firetoddmcclellan</b></div><div>roy is one of the best defesive defensman in hockey they have the cap to sign and trade</div></div>
Roy is also 28 and needs a new contract. Jiricek is 20 with a rookie contract and a higher ceiling than Roy ever has. It makes no sense cap wise to trade for Roy for CBJ, especially if only for an additional 2nd or 3rd. That's like me suggesting Peeke and a 2nd for Clarke. No way in heck that happens.

I would 100% take a "soft little Johnny" as you call him over a pre-madonna lazy player like PLD. LA made that deal, they can keep him. CBJ signed Johnny, we will keep him. Calgary made that trade, you can keep JH.

Still don’t see the value here for either side. Injury risk for Laine, Girard has only played half this season as well. Essentially he is like a less explosive Boqvist but more expensive. Bean is a good value add but the rest just doesn’t make sense to me.

So the Jackets retain 15% on Lindholm for a 3rd and then give Danforth away? No shot! And why TF would CBus help the Penguins, not going to happen.

Oilers add defence
So Columbus is retaining on Boqvist who has a higher upside, reasonable cap hit, team control, and produced more than Broberg. Is your goal here to offload Broberg, upgrade EMDs D offense, and then give CBJ a 4th for the 10% retention? I just don't see the value there for CBJ.

NEXT YEAR CBJ
Big fan of Eriksson Ek and his contract is more than reasonable. However, for the Jackets to send Johnson, Mateychuk, and a 1st (2025) is a lot imo. Maybe something like Johnson, Ceulemans OR Svozil (if MN wants a LD), and a 2nd ('25) may be more in line. Mateychuk is a LD the jackets I'm sure are not keen to trade. Interesting proposal though.
