Why is the other team getting so many shots against him - even relative to other 1st pair D?
(It's because he's bad)
If you've never heard the saying about blocking shots, now's a great time to learn it.
"Blocking shots is like killing rats. If you do it - it's objectively a good thing, but if you find yourself doing it often - you have a much bigger problem"</div></div>
My take is not only about blocking shots, it is about playing defense in which blocking shots is a part of and so are throwing hits as a defenseman. And why you are complaining so much about a small trade involving a 3rd pairing D that everybody else but you agrees is where Peeke belongs is beyond words.

LOL, way to twist my words bud. I said "his stats don't represent the player YOU think they represent", not that results don't represent a player.
Let me break it down for you.
You stated that Peeke has shown no ability, his stats show he blocks a heck of a lot of shots.
You said Peeke has has shown no results at any point, once again, his stats show he not only blocks a lot of shots, but he also lays a lot of hits per season.
Each of these translate into a decent penalty killer and defensive defensemen. In short your claim that Peeke has done nothing at any point and has shown no ability are not backed up by a simple check of the players stats and visual representation of his playing style.

I don't think he is close to a top pairing D partner. I'm not arguing that point but I think he is worth his salt on the 3rd pair (low end 2nd if needed) and as a defensive defensemen.

You posted a % and then claimed it would be less then that, which it very well may but it's subjective.
The point is, you stated Peeke showed no ability at any point and has no results at any point. You don't like the player, fine, that's fair but his stats don't represent the player you think they represent. Have a good one.

Peeke has shown no ability at any point. There is nothing you can point to to say "this player isn't being utilized properly - but will be good if used as such..." Its all conjecture</div></div>
Glad to see you have stats to back up all your talk. Peeke is a shot blocking machine (366 blocked shots/162 games the past two seasons), who lays hits (371 hits/162 games the past two seasons) and plays heavy in the corner. Is he a top pairing guy, no but he is good on the penalty kill and in a 2nd or 3rd pairing role he would be fine. Let me ask you this, if Peeke is so bad then why do multiple franchises seem to throw trade rumors for him? I guess fans just want one of the worst D guys in the league then......

Honestly, hopefully you guys do. But you said if Columbus doesn't like the price, they won't get a first line center.
We are in agreement, Calgary doesn't want to trade Lindholm, they want to sign him. And Columbus doesn't want Lindholm, so they won't trade for him. Simple enough.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>Not for that they don't. First line centers don't come cheap!
You want Lindholm the offer needs to start with Johnson + a 1st or Marchenko + a 1st. If the main asset is Marchenko then add Sillinger, if it's Johnson another add will do.
Calgary won't be throwing in Hanifin for free either, you have to pay for him too. The going price for comparable defensemen is a 1st, a decent roster player and a good prospect.
Don't like the price? Then Columbus won't be getting a 1st line center.</div></div>
Don't like the price, don't even want Lindholm so find that package somewhere else. CBus has a true 1C of the future in Fantilli that won't cost the extension amount of Lindholm. Not to mention Lindholm would really be a low end 1C or high end 2C. Good player, but pass.

No doubt Columbus would balk at retaining on Nylander though.</div></div>
In this case, with the trade above and replies ask to add, the trade from Columbus is:
2024 1st
Adam Boqvist
20% retention on Nylander
AND either Johnson, Mateychuk, or Sillinger
Columbus Receives:
Lindholm for 1 year
Not even close to being worth it.
Jenner is fine as the 1C for one more year if need be. The jackets center depth is now Jenner (1C), Fantilli (2/3C), Voronkov (3/2C), Kuraly (4C). And that doesn't take into account Sillinger as a potential 3/2C.

Columbus doesn’t need to add anything. They don’t need Lindholm, that ship has sailed. Columbus would pass on this trade regardless. It does have some creativity but still an overpayment for a rental.

Yea, that makes more sense with Toronto wanting more. However, Columbus has no need for Hanifin so so I still think the deal falls through, let alone add more piece from Calgary or Colimbus.

Make it Marchenko instead of Peeke and Calgary can add a 3rd round pick or B prospect too.
Before someone says Nylander is worth more not as a pending UFA looking for 10 mil plus on his next contract he isn't.</div></div>
While I understand why Calgary would want more form Columbus. Consider that Columbus doesn't need Hanifin with their Depth on D, especially since he is on the left side as well. I don't see this trade as positive for any of the teams and would think all would pass. And you're not getting Marchenko lol

Fair but Lindholm isn't worth what Flames fans think he is worth either.
At the end of the day, the price like everything else, is what the other team is willing to pay. So any Flames fan trade proposal will be hated by Jackets fans and any Jackets fan trade proposal will be hated by Flames fans. Just the nature of the beast.

GRAZY TRADE
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JKCpp</b></div><div>Kostin was very effective for the little time he was given and contributed in the playoffs when it mattered most. Andrew peeke on the other hand is a third pairing defensemen at best and has struggled a lot when given 16-17mins a game which is what we saw this season his puck handling ability and skating ability is not very good and wouldn’t fit well with Edmonton.</div></div>
Right, but I think you have to look at who Peeke played with all season. It was mostly AHL guys called up. Last year when he played with Werenski he was a lot better, still not a top 4 guy but a solid 3rd pairing D who can step into 2nd pair when needed and a great penalty killer.
Either way, it's been a fiery discussion here but some good banter. And if the trade were to ever happen, I would imagine this would start all over again. Good luck.
