Description

Devils did not put anyone on waivers today.

Deadline to set lineups is 5pm Monday.

We have 28 on roster. Daws, Halonen are waiver-exempt and injured, so they will be sent down or to IR. Kinkaid is also banged up and may start on IR (so we don’t send hint to Chicago). Nemec has waiver exemption. (We have already confirmed we are keeping Schmid)

That leaves 24 guys for 23 spots.

If we are sending anyone else to Utica, we would have had to put them through waivers today (to clear in time for 5pm deadline).

The only other guy who doesn’t have to go through waivers is Alex Holtz.

So there only remain three paths to get to 23-man roster:

1) A trade is coming
2) Someone else is going to IR
3) Holtz gets sent down

Has Holtz had a good camp?:if so they will waive one of the depth forwards. Most teams place guys on waivers in the last 2 days anyways

Holtz has earned a spot on this team. It makes zero sense to have 2 rookie dmen on this playoff team. A trade??? HUH why? To get a dmen who can play PK cuz Miller is eh. PS Foote should not make this team stop he has been horrible all preseason. Tierrey,Foote werent good all preseason and Dude what the hell are those lines plz stop

I agree that Holtz did have a good training camp and should make the roster. I know Miller is a veteran but in the pre season I wasn't to impressed with him. I know this sounds crazy but I'd keep Smith, Hughes and Nemec on the team over Miller.

He has been solid in camp…hasn’t flashed the big shot much, but more mature, well-rounded game.

Deadline for roster is 5pm tomorrow. So not enough time to clear someone through waivers (we didn’t put anyone on today).

5pm deadline is tomorrow. So if you are submitting a roster that needs waivers to subtract, then those guys would have had be placed on waivers today.

That's not what I asked. Where does it say the deadline is 5pm tomorrow?

Also are you 100% certain that no cuts have been announced?

Either way it's probably not a big deal, they can just assign him there for day 1 of the season, then place someone on waivers day 2 and call him up. that way hoping to avoid someone being taken on waivers

I have been suggesting CapFriendly keep a calendar of key dates and deadlines!

Yes…I an fairly certain. But could have always missed something.

A short-term demotion is another possibility…but finding a dance partner in a week may be a lot harder.

Yeah just went through the list, no one was placed on waivers today by the Devils.

Not sure what you mean by a dance partner. Once rosters are set on day 1 of the season it will be harder for other teams to make a claim on someone than it will be today/tomorrow. If Holtz is ready they wait a day or 2 then make the transaction to guarantee keeping their players being sent down

I know I would have added Tierney to my recent post if he was placed on waivers. He might get claimed later if a team (like my Flames) rookie bottom 6 player isn't cutting it
