It's a goalie trade, which makes everyone cap compliant....

Ok....let me have it...

Canucks decline. Don’t trade Demko for all assets involved. Also we don’t trade goalies to NJ anymore after schneider.

This leaves Canucks worse off while strengthening a division rival.
Sadly this middling Canucks squad is trying to compete. So no gutting the roster without upgrades.

Why would the Canucks trade Demko for a much worse goalie, a cap dump in Palat, and a decent piece but older pending UFA in Henrique? And then why would they add Boeser, Beauvillier, and a 2nd on top of that? Terrible deal for them

Don’t think Anaheim does this either, but this is an absolute steal for New Jersey

Canucks need to add something extra. Demko is worth more than the other two goalies but Myers is a pure cap, Boeser is overpaid and Beauvillier might be a little overpaid too.

Really though Vancouver would be better off just trading Demko for Vanacek plus. Vanacek is a least as good as old declining overpaid Gibson and gets paid a lot less too.

I don't like it for NJ. Palat isn't a cap dump yet, though he will be by the end of his contract, and NJ's analytics department has already vetoed Boeser trades in the past. Moot point though, since Palat has an NTC.

I was trying for a VAN roster shake up.... personally I think a rebuild should be on the table, but they have given no indication of that, so I went to a more positional goalie, a playoff Vet ....and Henrique....?? I know... just needed the cap to work.

I thought the Ducks got some pieces to flip at the deadline, VAN retools and NJD upgrades/retools.... but I get it if I missed the mark.... back to the drawing board!

And for the record, NJD goalie issues will be on these boards until Vanecek or Schmid improve in the playoffs or they trade for a proven commodity...

Canucks give up the best player in demko, a second, the third and fourth best players to get a step back in goal and two old players?

The 2nd is to get out from under Myers last year of his contract. The goalie swap is arguable, but I will give it to you. As for Palat, he would be a great piece if VAN has playoff aspirations this year, and Henrique gives them another center over 2 wings
