He's much better than JJ or MacDermid for the bottom pair. I was hoping they didn't roll with them

On a team like COL, Jones could have a breakout year. Could be a perfect fit. Great trade for them. And if he does have a breakout year, that could make them a little more comfortable with moving someone out or letting Toews walk next summer.

MacDermid is muscle, nothing else. They have Manson and Woods for toughness. Tufte too, if he stays with the team long term.

They are using MacDermid as a forward this year according to Bednar

I'm not. With all the young D they had/have on the way, it made no sense for them to lock him in. His career would go nowhere on a rebuilding team.
