    ANA
    1. Mantha, Anthony ($700,000 retained)
    2. 2025 2nd round pick (COL)
    Additional Details:
I originally had it as Mantha and a second, but then figured I could try a later pick and a middling prospect. Understandable that Anaheim fans pretty clearly said no. Figured here, you can take Mantha at an even 5 million for a late second rounder next year. He can slot into a third, maybe even second line role in Anaheim. If he finds his game, you can flip him at the deadline, while being able to get his cap hit down to 2 and a half million, which would be a bargain for a guy like Mantha when he is playing well.

I feel like that's a fair price for both sides to dump Mantha. Would be nice to add a high end forward with the extra cap space.

That's the idea. I honestly don't even hate the idea of just holding onto the cap space through the draft and letting guys like Mirochnishenko, Sutter, Lapierre, and Frank get a rotation of call ups through the year. Then after signing Sandin, we could focus on a top 6 winger that's not 58 years old lol

Couldnt you just send him down to the AHL with that cap space? Id do that unless you have a 2nd move lined up

You only get 1.1 million in cap relief from sending him down, so you'd be burning 4.6 million in cap space on the main roster to put him in Hershey.

yea but wouldnt WSH still be under the cap if they did that? Better to keep the pick imo unless the Caps plan on making another deal. idk if this is meant for today or TDL so its obiously unknown whatll happen after this move

It's meant for the near future. I'd rather just dump him and move on with the 5 mil in cap space. The ship has sailed with Mantha in the org, it's time to take the loss and move on. Plus, if you send him to Hershey, he's taking ice time from the guys down there. There's a lot of new, young players lined up to get play time in Hershey this year, I'd rather stick to that plan
