Goes without sayin a lot for next year depends on this year. I think you see Martinook walk (someone will overpay him) and I think you see Vasy or Rees make the squad next year. Drury is probably part of a trade, and I think Morrow plays. Don't see the Canes getting guys like Tanev or Gustafsson - I think they trade for a younger guy or keep one of Pesce/Skjei.

To me, teams are likely to grossly overpay for both Pesce and Skjei. To me, Tanev is kind of like the "Burns" option, in the sense that he plays great defensive hockey like Pesce does and also is a veteran without a cup to his name.

I think they find a way to keep at least one of Pesce/Skjei if not both. Players have a recent track record of being willing to take team-friendly deals in Carolina (Jordo, Raanta, Andersen, Fast) and I think that will help reel one of them back in

I imagine that of the two, Pesce's the one that they want to keep due to left-right balance. With Nikishin arriving in the 2025-26 season, it makes sense to hold onto Pesce.
